FAITH AND STEEL
My grandmother told me that believing in
God requires an act of extreme courage, which consists in abandoning yourself
to his will and being fully guided by him. This difficult leap into the void is
rewarded by his love, which illuminates the right path to follow. Although I am
not a believer, this transition from shadow to light has always fascinated me
and I have tried to reproduce it in this project. The main facade of the church
is a frantic interlocking of white perforated steel sails, while the rest
consists of a large glass nave, with steel pillars, which although modern and
minimalist, recalls the ancient Romanesque churches , creating a temporal
continuum that my grandmother would perhaps have appreciated.
